Last week at the International Wireless Communications Exposition (IWCE) in Las Vegas, Verizon Wireless’ Steve Zipperstein floated the idea of giving the 10 MHz of spectrum in the 700 MHz band—known as the D Block—to public safety, which would pair it with 10 MHz of its own airwaves in the band, giving public safety 20 MHz of spectrum to build broadband networks for first responders.
