FCC grants itself another extension for interleaved decision

For the third time, the FCC yesterday extended by 30 days the time it has to decide the timing and procedure that Sprint Nextel must use while vacating its 800 MHz interleaved channels as part of rebanding, according to FCC spokesman Rob Kenny. Almost a year ago, the FCC ruled that Sprint Nextel must clear the interleaved spectrum on June 26 of this year, despite the fact that most public-safety agencies had not rebanded at the time.
